| | Last night at Boyce College we had "Dorm Meeting." "Dorm Meeting" is a time where all the students who live on campus get together and worship God through songs, and then we have a speaker. Last night, we had our student counsel president speak and he did an amazing job. I enjoy it alot when he speaks because I believe he is very gifted in the area of speaking and it helps that he is my age so I feel like I can relate to him more. But last night, one of the things he hit on is how we as Christians and as human beings are so easily pleased. He told this story of how when he was a kid and when he went to the beach. He said that he would dig a hole in the sand till he reached the water and how he would just play in that hole all day. Then he said that now that he looks back, he sees that he was pleased in a whole, when there was a whole ocean with water and said that he could have been playing and swimming in. That is so similar to how we are. we are more pleased in the internet, girls/guys, tv, movies, ect. that we don't even need God to please us. Isn't that sad? God has an infinate amount of joy and happiness that he wants to give us if we would only take the time to realize that we don't need all that other stuff to be pleased, all we need is him. He is sufficient for us. We will always want more from the internet, we will always want more from girls/guys, we will always want to watch more tv and movies, we will always want more from everything but God if we will only just take the time to open our eyes and realize it. So I ask you this question, "What are you pleased ?" What is on the forefront of your mind? what do you wake up thinking about? Is it, "man I don't want to go to class," "man I don't want to wake up!" or is it," how can i glorify God today?" "I can't want to learn more about who God is today" I know in my life, I don't wake up thinking that near as much as i should. but it isn't enough to think about it, we must do it! |
